In 2024, SA Seed, founded by agricultural entrepreneur Alfons Visser, acquired Pannar Seed’s wheat seed division, including the full Corteva (Pannar) wheat germplasm, research facilities, and an experienced research team led by renowned wheat breeder Dr André du Toit. The successful transition ensured a seamless continuation of the trusted Pannar wheat breeding programme.
Although the name on the seed bags changed from PAN to SAS, the proven genetics, seed quality, and performance remained the same. SA Seed continues to build on Pannar’s legacy by developing current and new wheat cultivars while providing technical support to improve the sustainability and profitability of wheat production across South Africa.
